ANaP Lab opens its doors to the Night of Knowledge!

On Saturday, 26 January, the ANaP Lab team welcomed many interested visitors to the Night of Knowledge at the Georg Elias Müller Institute for Psychology.

We tried to show what happens behind the scenes of a department for affective neuroscience with as much bandwidth as possible. The tour through our department started with the clarification of the question: What is Affective Neuroscience anyway? with Prof. Dr. Annkathrin Schacht. The tour continued with an exhibition of various applications of affective neuroscience. For example, it was possible to find out what an articulograph is and how it works. Some of us also took care of a children's corner in order to make the youngest people aware of what we are doing. Here we tried to present affective neuroscience in a playful way, which turned out to be exciting also for our "older" guests. Those interested in research could take part in studies on morals and personality factors and get feedback on their personal profile, as well as in studies on the auditory perception of emotions. There was also the opportunity to participate in one of our laboratory tours. Here we showed how electroencephalography and eye-tracking studies are carried out in practice. In addition, our team was available everywhere to answer questions about the brain and our research.

A little nervousness was involved as our lab participated in the Night of Knowledge for the first time. At the end of the night, however, everyone agreed that it was a complete success. None of us would have expected this great interest and positive response. Many thanks to all supporters and interested parties! See you next time!
